Writing + editing

Reviewing new restaurants, interviewing breakthrough artists, and getting to be the grammar police for a real-life magazine? Sign me up. BN1 Magazine was a riotous time, and a bloody cool writing gig.

I wrote interviews, articles, reviews and previews of the best of nightlife and hospitality scenes.

Up and coming artists were always the focus at BN1. One of my fave people to interview was Anne-Marie (cover gal, above) as she had just about as much clue about what as happening as I did. Which wasn't a lot tbh.

Another highlight was Crazy P – they were much more composed but very kind to the fledgling writer I was at the time. Super sick to chat to them, I won't forget that in a hurry.

I didn't go hungry either. Whenever a new restaurant came into town I was straight in there, reviewing pizzarias, pubs, and posho places too.

There was even the odd editorial piece I could get creative with, like this Tattoo Convention spread below. Ahead of the event, we wanted to showcase homegrown local talent. They're bloody brilliant and at the top of their game. No freebies though. Sad face.
